BRIGITTE Size & Fit

Compare the Finished Garment Measurements before choosing your size. Look at the fullness you prefer, the room you need in the sleeves, and the blouse and sleeve lengths.

Compare your body measurements with our body measurement chart. The finished garment measurements show how much room each style provides; US and UK sizes are approximate international equivalents.

Body measurements and finished garment measurements: what’s the difference?

Body measurements describe your body. Finished garment measurements describe the sewn blouse. Compare the same measurement points: the difference between the garment circumference and your body circumference shows the room in the garment, often called ease. BRIGITTE is designed with generous fullness, so consider the silhouette you want as well as your body measurements.

What if my measurements fall into different sizes?

Your bust, waist, and hips may correspond to different rows in the body measurement chart. For BRIGITTE, compare each of these measurements with the finished blouse circumferences and the fullness you prefer. Check the upper arm and the sleeve circumference at the flared-sleeve seam separately; room in the body of the blouse does not tell you how the sleeve will fit.

Use the Find Your Size for a starting suggestion. The Measurements Guide shows how to take your measurements and compare them with the finished blouse.

On Nina

Model: Nina Wetzmüller wears EU 36 / US 4 / UK 8.

Her measurements: bust 90 cm (approx. 35 7/16 in), waist 66 cm (approx. 26 in), hips 92 cm (approx. 36 1/4 in), and upper arm 27 cm (approx. 10 5/8 in). Her height is 175 cm (approx. 5 ft 8 7/8 in).

The finished blouse in this size measures 132 cm (approx. 51 15/16 in) around the bust, waist, and hip/hem. Compare the finished garment measurements with your own measurements and the fullness you prefer. Also check the upper arm, sleeve circumference at the flared-sleeve seam, and finished lengths.

Choosing your fit

The drafting height is 168 cm / approximately 5 ft 6 1/8 in. Compare center-front, center-back, and sleeve lengths before cutting. Compare your upper-arm body measurement with the finished upper-arm circumference and measure your arm where the flared section begins. A test garment can help you judge the neckline and desired volume. Fabric choice, drape, and elastic adjustment also affect the finished fit.

Inch values are also included in the English sewing instructions.
