Master Tailor & Patternmaker
I’m Barbara, a Master Tailor and Patternmaker based in Germany. I’m drawn to the process of turning an idea into a garment, from the first sketch to the final details.
By the time I graduated from high school, I knew sewing would be more than a hobby. I wanted to learn the craft professionally, so I trained in bespoke tailoring and went on to earn my Master Tailor qualification in 2009.
In 2012, I founded a fashion label with my business partner at the time, which we led together until 2021. Over those nine years, we developed garments and collections. Through that work, I learned what it takes to run a creative business. That experience sharpened my eye for proportion, fit, and the details that give a garment its character.
Life also brought new experiences and a different perspective. That chapter gave me space to reflect, rediscover my strengths, and reconnect with the craft that has always meant so much to me.
I’m happiest when I’m creating. Creative minds, nature, travel, music, and sports all inspire me.
I’ve loved flowers for as long as I can remember. To me, they are among the most beautiful things nature creates. That fondness often shows in the floral fabrics I choose when sewing garments from my own patterns.
When I’m absorbed in a project, hours feel like minutes. One idea often leads to the next. Choosing which ones to develop, and giving them the time they need, is part of my work.
Today, I bring that experience to BARBARA et Co., combining traditional tailoring with digital patternmaking. It’s a way to share both the knowledge I’ve gathered and the pleasure I find in making clothes.

BARBARA et Co. is my independent digital sewing pattern studio, shaped by craftsmanship, feminine silhouettes, and timeless elegance.
The “et Co.” stands for my creative universe: the ideas, experiences, and inspirations that find their way into my work.
Traditional tailoring meets digital precision. I work with time-honored skills and modern tools, keeping the craft at the heart of each design.
I design and draft every sewing pattern myself using professional patternmaking software. AI offers exciting possibilities, but I’m not ready to hand over pattern drafting or responsibility for the result. My training, experience, and judgment remain at the heart of that work.
For me, a garment’s appearance matters just as much as its fit. I bring that same care to the sewing instructions and digital files.
I’m building a collection of versatile pieces that complement one another and become garments you reach for again and again.
For me, mindful sewing is about enjoying the making: choosing a fabric, taking time with a detail, and watching a garment take shape. I hope you enjoy the process as much as the finished piece, and that your own choices make it unmistakably yours.
